Bergen Record: How a mostly vacant office park in West Orange developed into thriving mixed-use community
Once upon a time, 100 Executive Drive in West Orange was home to a bustling 400,000-square-foot office park. But just like many other office spaces across the nation, the area was left more than 50% vacant as businesses moved to permanent remote work or opted for smaller spaces in the years following the pandemic.
In 2021, West Orange officials and BNE Real Estate Group devised a plan to redevelop the languishing Executive Drive into a thriving mixed-use community. So what was once a mostly unused property has transformed into a luxury rental complex, a new public library, the township’s first dog park and a renovated portion of the area’s original office spaces.
