MyCentralJersey.com | Raritan Bay developer unveils 205 more ‘resort-style’ waterfront apartments

By Susan Loyer | SOUTH AMBOY – The second phase of a $500 million redevelopment project bringing hundreds of apartments downtown has begun leasing.

BNE Real Estate Group and city officials cut the ribbon June 26 on The Pearl at Station Bay, 205 luxury rental units located between the train station and the ferry terminal.

The four-story property at 2000 Schindler Drive is the second phase of BNE’s Station Bay redevelopment, a $500 million initiative that began with the debut of 291 residences in 2021. The project is transforming 55 acres of South Amboy’s shoreline into a transit-connected neighborhood.

“For those of you who may have been here a few years ago, when you take a look at what was down here then and what is here now, it’s an incredible improvement,” said Mayor Fred Henry. “This is obviously an incredible building and a welcoming place for all of the people who are coming into South Amboy, because this is a great community to live in.”

“Resort-style” studio, one- and two-bedroom rents start at $2,200.

“We’re proud to be part of this ongoing story, from the success of Station Bay’s initial phase to The Pearl, which brings new choices for residents to enjoy this unique bayfront setting,” said Jonathan Schwartz, partner at BNE Real Estate GroupMore: 160-year-old NJ yacht club still drawing sailors to Raritan Bay regatta

Apartments feature 9- to 10-foot ceilings, wide-plank flooring, solar window shades, modular closet systems and in-home washers and dryers, while some include private balconies or patios.

BNE recently opened The Ivy, a collection of 245 upscale residences and amenities in Chatham, and Stonehill, the 425-unit centerpiece of a large mixed-use redevelopment in West Orange.
