As New York City continues to see record-high rents, some New Yorkers are looking north of the city for a lifestyle that’s more affordable and stress-free, but still commuter-friendly. Westchester County has responded with a wave of new developments in many of its municipalities, with 12,500 new apartments completed since 2021 and an additional 15,000 units under construction, as of 2024. With three Metro-North Railroad lines connecting to Grand Central Terminal, the region pairs easy access to Manhattan with revitalized downtowns, growing cultural scenes, and waterfront parks, making Westchester an attractive alternative for renters seeking more space and tranquility.
The Alary
33 Westchester Place, New Rochelle

The Alary, a high-rise luxury rental in New Rochelle, opened its doors this past fall, marking the completion of Allstate Venture’s three-building luxury development, Westchester Place. Designed by Fogarty Finger Architects, the white terra cotta-clad tower rises 28 stories and offers 315 modern apartments.
Joining the development’s other two rentals, The Arc and The Atelier, The Alary adds to the city’s arts and culture district with creative space showcasing local galleries and studios. Plus, a portion of the development’s 524 residences will be set aside as affordable housing for artists. Westchester Place is located just minutes from the New Rochelle Metro-North station, which brings commuters to Manhattan in less than 40 minutes.

The building offers studio to two-bedroom homes, all with 9-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a Smart-Home access system. Kitchens feature appliances from Fisher Paykel and Beko, quartz countertops, and waterfall-edge islands in select residences. Penthouses have slightly taller ceilings and upgraded finishes.

The Alary promises “hotel-style” indoor and outdoor amenity spaces for residents, including a fitness center with a yoga studio and a multi-sport simulator, a co-working space with a coffee bar, a game room, a children’s playroom, and rotating art exhibits. On the 28th floor, a landscaped roof terrace offers a pool, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and a dog run, all framed by views of New York City and the Long Island Sound.
Apartments at The Alary are starting at $2,400/month for studios, $2,900/month for one-bedrooms, and $4,300/month for two-bedrooms. Current incentives include 0 percent security deposits and three months free. See all current availabilities at The Alary here.
