Studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments feature high-ceilings and gourmet chef’s kitchens with granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances and garbage disposals. Elegant baths are adorned with cultured marble vanity tops, tiled floors and glass shower doors.

via NJ.COM – One of The Beacon’s most recent renters also is one of its longest standing residents.

Three years after first moving to the community of modern rental residences and incomparable indoor and outdoor amenities in Jersey City, Heather Henry has leased a second apartment at the location, this time a one-bedroom residence in Criterion, the latest building to open within The Beacon’s collection of restored Art Deco properties.

For Henry, there was never a question of whether or not she would enter her fourth year as a Beacon resident, only which of the unique buildings she would do it in.

“I was instantly sold on The Beacon when I first came here,” said Henry, who relocated from London and spent some time living along the Jersey City waterfront before moving to The Beacon. “At the time, I was looking to be close to Manhattan, but away from the chaos and exorbitant expense of living there.

“Wanting a little more bang for my buck, I visited The Beacon and was immediately impressed with the architecture, history and overall concept,” she said. “There is so much character here compared with typical square boxes you see elsewhere. And the amenities and open space are fantastic.”

The Beacon’s unrivaled open space includes the 45,000-square-foot Overlook Park, offering panoramic Manhattan skyline and New York Harbor views and numerous grills and seating areas.

Henry rented an apartment in The Beacon’s Mercury building in 2012, and spent the next three years watching the concept she admired come to life. Today, nine of the 10 buildings have been restored and reintroduced as luxury residences, blending modern apartments and amenities with historic charm.

The substantial offering of recreation areas makes The Beacon among the greenest urban residential communities in the region. Also completed is The Beacon’s unrivaled open space, including the 45,000-square-foot Overlook Park offering panoramic Manhattan skyline and New York Harbor views and numerous grills and seating areas, and an additional 2-acre park with children’s playground, organic garden spaces and dog runs.
