The latest addition to Weehawken’s booming waterfront, a condominium complex known as 1200 Avenue at Port Imperial, is now being called home by some buyers, with 40 of its 103 units sold, township officials and developers announced Tuesday.
The Weehwaken waterfront, with its Manhattan views and access, is so hot that as fast as one building can be completed, another is already underway. {SNIP}
Completion of 1200 Avenue at Port Imperial follows Lennar‘s 74-unit 1000 Avenue at Port Imperial, a condominium project the company said sold out last year.
The remaining units at the Avenue project include one, two and three-bedroom units of 887 to 3,139 square feet, with sale prices starting at $759,000,the copany said. Most units include private outdoor space of up to 1,036 square feet.
Craig Klingensmith, a northeast regional vice president for Miami-based Lennar, said the 40 units sold were among 60 placed on the market so far. He said buyers included young professionals, empty nesters and families with small children.
“And, of course the international crowd is still strong,” Klingensmith said. And while the pleasures and convenience of living on the waterfront was the main reason people bought their unit, he added that some buyers will “look at it as an investment.”
“They may rent it themselves,” he said.
