Urby’s next residential community will soon debut at 155 Washington Street in Newark, New Jersey. Known simply as Newark Urby, the property will comprise 250 rental apartments ranging from studios up to three-bedroom floor plans writes Sebastian Morris for New York Yimby.
To complete the project, URBY teamed up with LMXD, a newly formed affiliate of L+M Development Partners. Rather than demolish the existing 18-story property at 155 Washington Street, the development team opted to repurpose the structure, formerly owned and operated by Rutgers University. The project scope included renovation of podium levels to support retail use and a new lobby, conversion of the tower volume for residential use, and replacement of the existing façade with gray cladding, large windows, and decorative uplights.
